To escape Dutch winter, my friend Jack and I booked a week in an all-inclusive hotel in Marsa Alam, South Egypt. Scuba diving in the Red Sea is why I love to go to Egypt.

Since Egypt is a relatively short flight from the Netherlands, the Red Sea is the perfect spot for me to do some great scuba diving. I returned to Dahab to make ten fun dives. Because the reefs are close to the shore, it was easy to do the shore-dives in Dahab area.
I regretted that I didn't do a scubing diving course when I was backpacking in South-east Asia. So I went to Egypt to obtain my PADI Open Water certificate. Dahab is situated in de Sinaï desert on the Red Sea. Since it is 80km from the popular Sharm El Sheikh it is not packed with resorts yet, but it has a laidback vibe with many oceanfront bars en restaurants. When I was certified after 4 days I went for another day of fun dives. I was so impressed by the corals and the fishes that scuba diving has become one of my favourite things to do.
