Going on a holiday while being on a holiday. That's how it felt when I left Tulum (Mexico) early morning for a 6 day trip to Belize. It took me over 12 hours to complete the busride to Chetumal, the border formalities and the boat trip to the island of Cay Caulker. Since this Caribbean island belongs to Belize the common language is English and the vibe is extremely relaxt (the Creole habitants on the island really live by their saying: Go Slow!). Since I suffered from stomach problems the week before in Mexico, I was dying for some rum and cold beers on a rasta-style island :-)
There is a small beach for tanning at 'the Split', where the island was splitted by hurricane Hattie. The Lazy Lizard bar had drinks during sunset. Many restaurants served lobsters for dinner at a cheap prize (especially in lobster season). I went scuba diving for two days with Frenchies dive shop. We made some amazing dives among many nurse sharks, some stingrays, a reef shark and turtles.
