The dusty roads in Namibia are long and empty. We left the campsite at 4.30am and for hours we didn't see any other traffic on the road. In the afternoon we enjoyed the refreshing swimming pool at the campsite before we drove to Fish River Canyon to watch the sunset.
In 8 days we crossed Namibia from north to south. Many hours in the truck (It's not a bus, it's a truck!) were worth the short nights. What an amazing country Namibia is! From Fish River Canyon we returned to South Africa to complete our 3 weeks road trip in Southern Africa.

We left Twyfelfontein at 3am and early morning the truck broke down. It took a few hours before we could continue along the skeleton coast to Swakopmund. In this coastal town the German colonial past shows off. I enjoyed the apfelstrüdel that was sold in town :-)
We took a tour through Swakopmund township and had some drinks in a bar (instead of consuming the boxes of wine when camping). Next day we started with a hangover before we enjoyed ourselves riding quads in the dunes.
Another early morning leave at 4am. We had breakfast in Solitaire, an isolated village in the desert. In the afternoon we reached the Sossusvlei. We landed in a landscape of dunes, a saltflat and dead trees. How surrealistic! We saw sunset on Dune 45 before we stayed overnight in Sesriem.
Crossing Namibia from the north to the south we stopped at a village where Himba-tribe ladies are selling their souvenirs. Further south towards Twyfelfontein we stopped in the rocky desert to see some 6000yr old drawings in the rocks.
Camping in Etosha National Park means camping in the midst of the wildlife. We did some gamedrives in the afternoon. It was special to watch all kind of animals drinking their water in the night next to the campsite while we were drinking wine.
