To visit the Angkor temple sites I booked a room in a hostel in Siem Reap together with Paul (a German backpacker). Siem Reap is packed with hostels, bars and restaurants so we had no problem finding places to have some drinks in the evenings.
Next morning, we hired a tuktuk-driver for a day and left Siemp Reap early to be at the Angkor Wat temple before sunrise. This spectacular temple is the most famous of the Angkor sites. The rest of the day we explored some sites on a distance from the main area. We strolled and climbed the sites while our tuktuk-driver was waiting for us (sleeping most of the time).
The next day we rented some bikes to go to the main area with the famous temples like Bayon (with 216 gargantuan faces on it) and Ta Prohm (known from the movie Lara Croft tombraider). After two days of seeing temples we decided not the use the last day of our 3 days entrance pass. We went for some more drinks in Siem Reap instead!
