The pictures of the Vietnam war were still on my mind when I was confronted by more tragedies in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. The Tuol Sleng museum showed me some of the horrific deeds of the Khmer rouge. This former high school was turned into a prison in 1975 by Pol Pot and almost everyone held here was later executed on the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek.
After visiting these Killing Fields I was a little bit in shock by the stories and pictures. When the tuktuk-driver asked me if I would like to shoot animals on a shooting range, I was flabbergasted and certainly not in the mood for these kind of things. Fortunately I saw nice things in Phnom Penh as well; the Royal Palace was beautiful and the people in the streets were really friendly.
