I joined a group tour from travel agency Shoestring to Jordan. We made an 8 days itinerary from Amman via Petra and Wadi Rum to Aqaba.
80km south from Wadi Rum desert we arrived at Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea) to spend two nights in Aqaba. A day trip on the boat and some site-seeing in the city gave me my last impressions of Jordan. What a diverse country I have seen in just a week: ancient cities, two different seas, deserts and canyons! On the last day we returned to Amman to take the plane back to Amsterdam. Thanks Jordan, nice to meet you, I had a great time!
From Petra we drove through the fascinating Wadi al Muhib valley to the Wadi Rum desert. We spend some time touring the desert by camel and by jeep. We slept in a desert camp and watched the bright stars in the night.
I woke up excited for the day ahead in the historical and archaeological site of Petra. Over 2000 years ago the capital city of the Nabataeans. We started to walk the Siq (a narrow gorge) to see the ruin Al Khazneh ("the Treasury") hewn into the sandstone cliff in front of us. Till late afternoon I walked and climbed the grounds of Petra to see the many ruins. Wow! This is a World Heritage site for sure!
