I went to Ibiza town for a week. I stayed in a hotel on playa Figueretes, just a short stroll from Dalt Vila (old town) and the harbour. I spend most beachdays on playa Es Cavallet in the Ses Salines National Park. I celebrated Ibiza Pride in the harbour.

Just across my hotel in Ibiza Figueretes departs the ferry to the island of Formentera. I spend a day at the beautiful beaches of this Balearic island.
After previous visits to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, this time I am spending a week on the Canarian Island of Fuerteventura. After a propitious (but very early) flight from Schiphol Airport, I had a transfer to the resort-town of Corralejo. My hotel is almost on the edge of the Corralejo Natural Park, known for its beautiful white sand beaches surrounded by a huge dune area. Most days were spend on these beaches. There is also a “popcorn beach” in Corralejo.
With the local bus I also went to El Cotillo. Here I explored the beautiful beaches and lagoons as far as up to the lighthouse on the northwest coast of the island. One week in Colonia de Sant Jordi (south of Mallorca). Spend most of my time on the beaches (eg. Es Trenc to the north and Es Carbo to the south of the village).
One week in Playa de las Americas (south of Tenerife). Coastal walks in Costa de Adeje, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. Daytrip to El Teide National Park and Masca.
One week in Playa del Ingles, south of Gran Canaria. 11/11, Maspalomas Winterpride and a visit of Puerto de Mogan.
By train I travelled in 40 minutes from Cordoba to Sevilla. I stayed near the Hercules de Alameda square and walked my way around the city. In the afternoons and late evenings I took my time at the bars for a cold beer and some delicious tapas.
From the giant Plaza de Espana square I strolled through the Maria Luisa park, the old town along the Guadalquivir river to the bull-fighting arena. In the old town I visited the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Cathedral with its bell tower 'la Giralda' and the Moorish Alcazar palace complex with its beautiful garden. On the other side of the river I explored the Triana district. This is considered to be the birthplace of the famous flamenco dance and music. I chilled out under a tree at a festival in the EXPO 92 area. From Torremolinos I took the metro to Malaga, where I took a train to Cordoba. I stayed two nights in a guesthouse in the old Jewish Quarter. Cordoba has the highest summer temperatures in the whole of Europe. And with 36 degrees Celsius in the afternoon it was already very hot to stroll around in the historic centre.
Cordoba was a Roman settlement on the right bank of the Guadalquivir, taken over by the Visigoths, and followed by the Muslim conquests in the eighth century. In that time Cordoba became the world leading centre of education and learning and the second largest city of Europe. In 1236 Cordoba was conquered by the Christian conquest. The large history still shows off by examples of Moorish architecture, such as the Mezquita-Catedral. During my stay Cordoba hosted its annually Festival de los Patios. Many houses of the historic centre opened their private patios to the public and compete in a contest in floral decorations. I started my trip to Andalucia with four days of relaxing at the coast in Torremolinos. During the day I spend most of my time in the sun at the swimming pool.
Although the covid pandemic was still active, I went a week to Gran Canaria to enjoy some sunshine. I stayed in an all inclusive hotel, where we still had to wear a face mask. And also in supermarkets a face mask was mandatory. The festivities for Winterpride 2021 were reduced to limited access by the need for tickets for the concerts. However the Yumbo centre was still packed. And (mainly) Germans started off the carnaval season (11/11) on the beach.
